Sensory Composition exhibited artworks that symbolizes abstraction and the interwoven emotion of multidimensional narratives, the work evokes our aesthetic sensation and free consciousness. Surrounded by the ever changing environment of data and technology, facing the abstraction of emotion, we express with different forms, for example, hugging because of delights, warm-hearted and moved, or combine these feelings into drawing, literature, or music. Somehow like dots, lines, forms and colors randomly constructed into abstract vision, behind the concept is rather vibrant, clear and solid.
Nguyen Ngoc Vu
Vietnamese artist Nguyen Ngoc Vu is not limited by material or genre. Expert in mixing classic Vietnamese art in daily life with contemporary pop, it turns into a bold visual creative method. As he grows up, he explores complex political, identity and pop culture, from graffiti, painting, installation to figure out his own cultural perspective.
In the work “Move on, There’s Nothing To See Here.” He referenced “The Toilet of Venus“, the imagery signifying nowadays Hedonism, cartoon character The Smurfs like the spokesperson of the magic mirror, and the selfish, showy and confident Daffy Duck seems to represent the real self under the mask. Through humor and satire, he does everything imaginable and turns all the emotions and symbols into creative practice. Intuition is important for an artist’s to shape the art work, the image is hidden with multiple thinking directly or indirectly.
Differ from the creating poster art before, collage series “Scraps of Hong Kong” created by Poles artist Agnieszka Mori who currently based in Hong Kong for many years, documented the daily trajectory of Kowloon, Hong Kong and Soho area: K11 shopping mall, theater, M+ Art Museum, Jockey Club Creative Arts Center, and the usual skyscrapers intertwined into the noisy streetscape on Hong Kong Island, like the mid-level escalator in the Central district, as if you will encounter Tony Leung and Faye Wong in the “Chongqing Forest”, raise many people’s impression to Hong Kong.
Now, what kind of existing issues are in the contemporary society we are familiar with? The authenticity of art reflects on abstract thinking and concrete collages, over and over again, the performance of reposition and repetition is juxtaposed with the everyday reality, dragging us back to the sympathy of that era.
Polish artist Mateusz Piestrak is well known for his work in between abstraction and performance, noting the painting potential under the leading new media culture. This print series comes from his image theme “Discovery” developed in New York. Rephrased famous classic fragments of traditional paintings, absorbing inspirations and deciding his motive from trifle key elements, letting image to stimulate spectators’ memories, and start constricting his own story, create alternative communication between modern and tradition. Artist is drifting in his own era, translating inspiration into fiction, highlighting emotional memory from multiple perspectives, therefore those misty, fragmentary fluidity in the painting becomes the motor that triggers memories in our mind.
Huang Chih Hua
Recently graduated from Utrecht School of the Arts visual art department in the Netherlands, Taiwanese artist Huang Chih Hua creates paintings of objects, her work is full of poetic energy. From “Object-led World” and “While the machine takes over the objects” you can tell the fluid elements in the picture have a kind of indirectness and hypertext characteristics, which concerns the concept formed when she analyzed and extracted the characteristic of essence, then used the concept to deduct and determine. Her draft expresses fluid thinking and mutual conversion, only from penetrating things constantly can slowly master the subject’s essence and pattern.
Before, SUAVEART had discussions with friends about “What is an island?”, “Through what kind of communication?”, “How to interpret the concept system behind?” Chih Hua mentioned, ”if “Island” as an independent field without interruption from the external world, how would they communicate with each other? I imagine a kind of archipelago system, each island is constructed by a complete and complex network, while it depends on tiny strings connected with the outer world. Light items contain information about the island itself, moving in between each other. In this object’s directed system, we can see how the archipelago uses item exchange as a communicative tool, which also changed it’s form to respond to the information they received. Therefore from observing the island in different perspectives, they exist in diverse forms: through, sublime, fragmented…” echos the way she observes the essences of things, applies her abstract thinking into the visual language system.
American artist Kian Khiaban creates another emotional communication through rationality, combining natural elements into the flow of color changes, using coherent visual context to present the existence of time, at the same time considering the relationship between the society and nature. Having 17 years experience of producing digital art, he keep on exploring the interrelation of physics and virtual reality, redefines the relation between architectural construction and media art, working with world top digital artist Refik Anadol many years as chief visual designer.
“Lone Night” , full of natural imagery, is his recent work. First time collaborate with SUAVEART exhibit in Taiwan, natural scenery flowing from distance to nearby, leading our emotion to standing in the blue and green light river, time pushing the progress, only company by the trees and moonlight, deeply moved by the spectacular digital nature.
Abstraction is exploring essence from our surroundings, thinking about the diverse emotional, objective thinking, social knowledge, connection to the world behind the abstraction, “Sensory Composition“ is abstract and concrete at the same time, similar to firework giving us multi-sensory experience and memories, at the same time aesthetic.
